Matriarchs

Before we can understand the ancient history of a Haplogroup, we must learn about where it is found today. Where has it traveled? What is recorded in family genealogies? By knowing the genealogies, it can be placed in the context of recorded history. Once sufficient information about the Haplogroup and its clades exists, then they may be placed in the context of ancient history and anthropology.

To establish this each project member needs to submit a pedigree showing their most distant mtDNA lineage ancestress. It should show the names of the ancestor's daughters and the daughter's daughters down to 1900. If you do not have details for your ancestress's other lines then you may also send a simple direct maternal lineage.
